About M•Body Pilates

What is M•Body?

 

At M • Body, we believe movement should feel good — like a celebration. Our Pilates classes are designed to help you feel stronger, more connected, and completely at home in your body.


Founded by Martha, M • Body was created with a simple mission: to make wellness accessible, joyful, and sustainable. Every class blends mindful movement with strength, mobility, and a little bit of fun — because we believe feeling your best comes from balance, not burnout.


Whether you’re just starting your Pilates journey or deepening your practice, M • Body is a space where you can move at your own pace, build confidence, and create healthy habits that last. Here, it’s about progress over perfection, community over comparison, and always showing up for yourself — one breath, one stretch, one class at a time.

Meet our Founder

 

Martha first discovered Pilates while studying at Performers College in Essex — though at the time, it wasn’t love at first stretch. As a professional dancer, she went on to perform around the world, living out her dream until the pandemic brought everything to an unexpected halt.


In the midst of change, Martha began working in a chiropractic clinic, where she was introduced to a vitalistic approach to health — one that looks at the body as a whole. 


Inspired by this mindset, she started to prioritise her own wellbeing, diving deeper into fitness, movement, and balance. That’s when Pilates found her again — and this time, everything clicked.


Rediscovering Pilates reignited Martha’s passion for movement and led her to train with Move Union in Bristol, turning her personal journey into a new career she adores.


Now, through M • Body, Martha’s mission is to help others move well, feel strong, and truly thrive. She can’t wait to share her knowledge, support your goals, and help you discover how good your body is designed to feel.

What can Pilates do for me?

 

Pilates is more than a workout — it’s a way to reconnect with your body, calm your mind and move through life with strength and confidence. Whether you want to improve posture, ease tension, build tone, or simply feel better in your own skin, Pilates meets you exactly where you are.


At M • Body, our classes are built around the seven core foundations of Pilates:


Breath – The foundation of it all. Using your breath helps you move with ease, release tension, and create space in both body and mind.


Concentration – Pilates asks you to be fully present. Every movement becomes more intentional, helping you tune into your body and build true body awareness.


 Control – It’s not about how many reps you do, but how you do them. Control ensures every movement is safe, effective, and powerful.


Centring – Known as “powerhouse” work, centring strengthens your core — the source of stability for your entire body.


Precision – Small adjustments make a big difference. Precision helps you move efficiently and get the most from every exercise.


Flow – Pilates movements are designed to feel graceful and connected, improving coordination and creating that effortless, balanced feeling.


Alignment – Proper alignment helps your body move the way it was designed to, improving posture, balance and overall wellbeing.


In Pilates, we train the body in lengthened positions — strengthening muscles as they extend away from the centre line. This helps create long, lean strength while supporting balance, mobility, and injury prevention. The result is a body that feels lighter, more open, and more resilient in everyday life.


Together, these principles create a practice that strengthens, restores, and empowers — leaving you feeling longer, lighter, and more energised after every session.
